Free PhD workshop on epistemological issues.
The School of Global Development at the University of East Anglia will organise a workshop on epistemological issues in international development. This workshop targets PhD students of development. There is no registration fee. The workshop will take place 29 November 2024 from 11:20 to 3:40 and will include a lunch break
The workshop will outline specific epistemological issues of prominence in development studies and presents three separate sessions on epistemologies of:
- Social analysis
- Natural science
- Economics
Experienced researchers in the respective fields lead the three sessions: Ben Jones (social analysis), Rachel Carmenta (natural science) and Bereket Kebede (economics). Each will give constructive and critical accounts of strengths, weaknesses, and debates around those forms of knowledge, relevant to development studies.
