DSA2019: Opening up Development
The Open University, Milton Keynes, 19-21 June
The DSA's annual conference in 2019 took place at the Open University, which celebrated its 50th birthday that year. The conference focused centrally on "Opening up Development", while also encompassing the broad range of development studies interests. Our aim was to draw attention to shifts in the global political economy; new forms of development intervention and activism; and the call to ‘de-colonise’ the teaching and learning of development studies. Over 400 participants from the Development Studies community attended for three days of panels, roundtables, keynotes, study group meetings, early career centred sessions and social events.
Next year's conference will be held at the University of Birmingham in June 2020.
You can view two of the four plenaries - Robtel Neajai Pailey & Sheela Patel - via the Open University website.
Publishing session videos
You can now view the two publishing sessions that took place at DSA2019 on 20th June with Development Studies journal and book editors via the Open University website. Session 1 concerns getting articles published in journals; Session 2 focuses on getting a book published.
