DSA2020: New Leadership for Global Challenges
University of Birmingham, 17-19 June 2020
The call for funding is now CLOSED. We aim to inform all applicants on decisions by April 3rd.
Through generous awards from the Journal of Development Studies, the Journal of International Development and the DSA, the DSA2020 conference organisers are able to allocate support funds to help with accepted authors’ and convenors’ attendance to the DSA conference at the University of Birmingham, 17-19 June 2020.
The rules and criteria are straightforward:
- ALL applications must be submitted via the online form.
- Only authors with accepted papers or panels to DSA2020 may apply.
- Applicants should not seek 'double-funding' (i.e. you already have full funding from another source). Our aim is to support those who only have partial funding from another source or have no funding at all.
- Requests for funding may NOT be to cover DSA membership subscriptions.
Prioritisation of this support will, in order, be for those who are both from the global South and based at institutions in the global South, early career academics and students without access to funds and those with exceptional circumstances.
If you make a mistake, please do not resubmit, but email conference(at)devstud.org.uk
Deadline for applications: 18 March 2020
Funding is not guaranteed in advance as we expect demand to be greater than the availability of support.
We will endeavour to make and communicate decisions by the 3 April 2020
Conditions of funding
All successful applicants will need to pay their costs up-front and then submit receipts in order to be refunded ahead of time or at the conference. (An inability to pay up-front should not discourage you from applying for funds as exceptions can be made in cases where this is not possible.) If a funded delegate is unable to attend the conference, they may be asked to return the full sum, if the circumstances merit it. Receipts are required in order to receive funding. These are the conditions accepted in applying for the funds.
Any queries, please email conference(at)devstud.org.uk
